Which route? (21-01-2021)

A Reading

Jesus told him, ’I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me’. (John 14: 6)

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10: 9,13)

A Thought

Adopting best practice of daily exercise is not straightforward in our household. Aside from sessions with Joe Wicks, the choices before us are numerous and divergent.

For those who are interested in a walk, we need to decide which route. How long will it take us to get there and walk it? Will we need walking boots, wellington boots, gloves, raingear or walking poles? How cold is it? When are we thinking of going?

For those who are interested in a cycle, we need to decide which route. The short triangle, medium triangle or long triangle? Will we ride the road bikes or the hybrid bikes? Is it going to rain? How cold is it? When are we thinking of going?

Invariably, we end up without a consensus, with different groups heading off in different directions at different times.

Choosing a route to God is much easier.

The route has been mapped out for us, and very conveniently starts exactly where we are.

We can start the journey whenever we want. It is always nice to be able to journey with friends, but it really doesn’t matter when we or they start the journey. The only important detail is that we each set off at one time or another.

Neither do we need to worry about any of the details. These will all be taken care of by our guide. So, with our guide always to hand, we can enjoy the journey whatever the circumstances.

Peace at last.

A Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you that you have cleared the path for my journey to heaven.

May I have the presence to feel your love along the way,

And the inner peace that comes from knowing that we are never separated.

Amen
